This week’s Cross-Industry Collaboration session explored the growing demand for energy in the supply chain and the urgent need for sustainability and resiliency in the face of these challenges. Deloitte experts shared insights on the evolving energy landscape, including the impact of automation and AI, and how businesses can adapt to meet the demand for clean energy.
Highlights from the event:
- “AI and automation are driving increased energy consumption across industries. As we implement more robotics and advanced technologies, the energy required continues to rise. In fact, energy demand in the U.S. is expected to increase by 35-50% over the next 15 years. What we are seeing with our clients is not just an increased demand for energy, but a demand for clean energy as well.”
- “Think about the car you drive to work or take an Uber in. Now imagine if each component of that car—the aluminum frame, glass windows, rubber tires—was made from recycled materials from old cars. This kind of carbon-neutral, circular product requires manufacturers to rethink their entire business model. It’s a complex process, but essential for a sustainable future.”
- “Sustainability needs to drive business value in order to be effective and scalable. Whether it’s through working with your suppliers, within your organization, or with your customers, aligning sustainability with business objectives is key. This could mean growing revenue through strategies like price premiums or improving customer loyalty, ultimately making sustainability a growth engine.”
Thank you to everyone who joined. We hope to see you at our next event!
