Update March 5: This event has been postponed due to travel and conference restrictions currently in place with many companies. It will be rescheduled for a future date. Watch for more details.

AWESOME has announced the addition of two women with expertise on board membership as speakers at the March 12 Regional Event at Nike World Headquarters in the Portland Metro Area. Hilary Krane, EVP, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, Nike Inc., will be keynote speaker. Nancy Calderon, former KPMG Executive and Global Lead Partner, will serve as a panelist for the discussion moderated by Heather Sheehan, AWESOME’s Executive Director.

The focus of the event, sponsored by C.H. Robinson, is learning about and preparing for board membership. Supply chain leaders are playing an increasingly important role on corporate and non-profit boards of directors, and serving on a board is seen by many as the extension of a successful supply chain career.

Members of the panel already announced include Karyn Barsa, former C-level executive at consumer products companies including Patagonia and Smith & Hawken, and Angie Freeman, Chief Human Resources Officer at C.H. Robinson. Each of the leaders will be sharing insights on board membership, including their own board experiences.

Hilary Krane serves on the boards of the Portland Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Restoration Hardware and The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. In her previous position as General Counsel and SVP for Corporate Affairs at Levi Strauss & Company, she served as a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Levi Strauss Foundation.

Karyn Barsa has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards, including Deckers Brands and Performance Sports Group.  She is a former member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and of Women Corporate Directors (WCD).

As a KPMG executive, Nancy Calderon served as senior partner of the firm’s Board Leadership Center. She currently serves on the board of Northern Technologies International Corporation, as VP of the Greater New York YMCA Board, and on the boards of the NY Women’s Forum and The University Club. Nancy is the co-author of Women on Board – Insider Secrets to Getting on a Board and Succeeding as a Director.

Angie Freeman serves on the Board of Directors for Spartan Motors, Inc., the Gartner Global CHRO Board, and the University of North Dakota Alumni Association & Foundation. She previously served as Chairman of LeadersUp, a national non-profit founded by Starbucks that supports increased employment opportunity for at-risk youth.

AWESOME Regional Events provide leaders with the opportunity to connect in a small-group setting. Invitations have been mailed to AWESOME leaders, and capacity for the event is limited.
