Update March 5: This event has been postponed due to travel and conference restrictions currently in place with many companies. It will be rescheduled for a future date. Watch for more details.

To address the topic of board readiness, including what it entails and why supply chain women executives can bring value to a board – AWESOME will present a line-up of speakers with first-hand experience at a Regional Event on March 12. The event, which is sponsored by C.H. Robinson, will be held during the day on March 12, with content also provided by Nike leaders at Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, in the Portland Metro Area.

The program and the discussions will be geared toward women who are seeking to join a board in the near or long-term future as an extension of their career — as well as those who’d like to know more about how and why supply chain leaders are increasingly becoming valued board members.

Two of the panelists who will share their insights on board membership in a discussion moderated by Heather Sheehan, AWESOME’s Executive Director, are Karyn Barsa, former C-level executive at premium consumer products companies including Patagonia and Smith & Hawken, and Angie Freeman, Chief Human Resources Officer at C.H. Robinson.

Karyn has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards, including Deckers Brands and Performance Sports Group.  She is a former member of National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and of Women Corporate Directors (WCD).

Angie serves on the Board of Directors for Spartan Motors, Inc., a manufacturer of commercial specialty vehicles. She also serves on the Board of the University of North Dakota Alumni Association & Foundation, and the Gartner Global CHRO Board.  Previous board experiences include serving as Chairman of LeadersUp, a national non-profit founded by Starbucks that supports increased employment opportunity for at-risk youth, and Community Health Charities of Minnesota.

More speakers will be announced soon. Invitations have been emailed to AWESOME leaders and the registration deadline is Wednesday, February 26.
