AWESOME presents scholarships to five university students

For the third year, AWESOME has awarded women enrolled in university supply chain management programs with AWESOME Excellence in Education Scholarships. The award covers the cost of the scholars’ participation at the CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) Global Conference in San Diego on September 27-30.

One of the key components of AWESOME is inspiring young women to advance their careers in supply chain – addressing the need to increase the number of women with strong leadership potential who enter the field, to develop the potential of up-and-coming leaders, and to improve opportunities for the next generation of women supply chain leaders. Attending the CSCMP conference provides these young women with an opportunity to learn from leaders in the field, build connections with peers from other universities, and gain insights about potential career opportunities.

The 2015 scholars are: Darby Hogan, Penn State; Samantha Herold, University of Tennessee; Cindy Liu, University of Maryland; Jessica Sun, Michigan State; and Danielle Shields, Syracuse University.

Faculty members from top universities were asked to invite applicants and select a candidate demonstrating superior supply chain leadership potential currently. Applicants are young women enrolled – and who also will be enrolled in fall of 2015 — in the university’s MBA, MS or undergraduate supply chain program. A committee of supply chain leaders conducted a review of the applications, and selected the top five scholarship recipients.

After the students attend the CSCMP conference, each writes an essay about her experience, and the essays will be posted on the AWESOME web site.
